Video tech links 300 children for storytelling

/ 06:53 AM May 22, 2011

AT least 45 children at a Philippine Navy base in Cebu yesterday listened  to  children’s stories being read aloud by Philippine Daily Inquirer guests in Manila.

The session was a simultaneous Read-Along,  facilitated by the Navy’s video teleconferencing system (VTS), so that some 300 children from eight other naval bases around the country could join the activity.

Capt. Ingremar Pernes, deputy commander of Naval Forces Central Visayas (Navforcen), said this would open more community-based activities where they could use the teleconference technology.  Present were  children of members of the Philippine Navy Officer’s Wife Association and Children’s Joy Foundation./Correspondent Edison A.
