'Bato' buys juice from child after speech at Sona rally

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa tried to console a young vendor after the boy was trampled by media and police escorts.

Dela Rosa was making his way back to the police command post near Batasang Pambansa where the State of the Nation Address (Sona) will be held on Monday when his police escorts and a crowd of journalists accidentally trampled the child who was selling juice.

The child’s merchandise fell to the ground. Dela Rosa then offered to buy the packaged fruit juice that the boy was selling.

He bought 12 packs of fruit juice for P120.

Before that, Dela Rosa shook hands with militant leaders who were marching to Batasan.

He then dropped by the main rally area, which was 600 meters away from the House of Representatives, to give a short speech.

He told the militants that everyone is happy because of the peaceful conduct of the rally. Dela Rosa also told them not to mind the police who are there to ensure security.
