Did you know: 35th death anniv of NA for Cinema Gerry de Leon

TODAY, July 25, is the 35th death anniversary of National Artist for Cinema Gerardo “Gerry” de Leon.

His first project was “Ama’t Anak” in which he directed himself and his brother, Tito Arevalo.

In the 1950s and 1960s, he produced many films now considered classics, including “Daigdig Ng Mga Api,” “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo.”

De Leon died in 1981 and was named a National Artist in 1982. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
