Expect the executive order on the Freedom of Information bill to be signed before President Rodrigo Duterte delivers his first State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, July 25.

This was the assurance of Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on Friday amid its delay.

Andanar earlier said the EO on the FOI, which aims to make public documents more available to the public, was already on the table of the Chief Executive.

Asked whether the public could expect it before Duterte’s Sona, Andanar said “Yes.”

“Let’s wait for the Sona,” Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a text message to INQUIRER.net when asked about the release of the EO.
