Alleged drug pusher killed in Quezon shootout
LUCENA CITY, Quezon—A suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout with police operatives in Tiaong town in Quezon province shortly before midnight on Thursday, police said Friday.
Chief Insp. Alvin Consolacion, Tiaong police chief, said the victim Ruel Dizon sold “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a poseur-buyer in Barangay (village) Lagalag around 10:30 p.m.
But instead of surrendering to the lawmen, Consolacion said, the victim drew a caliber .38 handgun and engaged the police in a firefight. Dizon died while being transported to the hospital.
“He (Dizon) was included in our list of drug pushers,” Consolacion said in a phone interview.
According to police report, four small plastic packs containing a total of 1.5 gram of shabu with an estimated street value of ₱2,775 and several drug-sniffing paraphernalia were found in Dizon’s possession. RAM/rga
