Robbers kill 2 dentists in 2 weeks

Two weeks after robbers shot dead a dentist in her Makati clinic, three armed men killed another dentist in the city, leading the police to suspect that both crimes had the same perpetrators.

Dr. Antonio Limos, 59, was shot repeatedly as he ran outside his clinic at the corner of St. Paul and Kamagong streets to go after the men who had taken his patient’s cell phone around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Makati police’s Criminal Investigation Division head, Chief Insp. Shirley Bao, said that based on their interview with the victim’s secretary, the suspects earlier entered Limos’ clinic, saying they wanted to consult him.

The three men filled out information cards, presumably with fake names, then took a seat. After a few minutes, they declared a holdup and went to the room where Limos was treating a patient, Bao said.

Chase ends in death

The suspects tied up the victim’s hands and took his patient’s cell phone.

Limos, who had a gun hidden in his clinic, was able to untie himself and went after the suspects. At this point, two of the armed men—one in a black jacket and the other in a red shirt—were getting on a motorcycle parked nearby.

As Limos ran outside the clinic, he was shot by the third man who was standing there. The trio then fled and a tricycle driver who was passing by brought the victim to Makati Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators were looking into the possibility that these men were the ones who killed another dentist, Raquel Magsalin, on July 6 inside her clinic on Kalayaan Avenue.

The still-unidentified perpetrators, who ran off with Magsalin’s bag, also tied her up and shot her in the head when she tried to fight back.
