COTABATO CITY – A preacher of a local religious group in Maguindanao was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen in a remote village of Upi town on Monday.
Senior Inspector Merlee Glemao, Upi town police chief, identified the victim as David Severo, 60, pastor of the Holy Life Church.
Police said Severo was emerging from his house in Barangay Kibukay at about 4 p.m. when shot by two men riding in tandem on a motorbike.
Local police investigators were still clueless on the identities and motive of the attackers.
Severo’s family owns a small orchard farm in Barangay Kibukay and also sells rice, corn and vegetables.
Upi Mayor Ramon Piang has condemned the killing and directed the local police to identify and arrest the suspects. CDG/rga
