Drug suspect killed, another nabbed in Olongapo


OLONGAPO CITY, Philippines—A suspected drug dealer was killed and another was arrested on Thursday during simultaneous police operations in this city.

John Ryan Baluyot was shot dead by a policeman after the suspect aimed his gun at the officer around 3 a.m. in Barangay  East Bajac-Bajac here, Senior Supt. Jerry Sumbad, acting director of Olongapo City Police Office, said in a report.

Sumbad said the police officer was pretending to be a buyer of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and had concluded the transaction when Baluyot drew out his weapon.

The suspect died on the spot. Police recovered three plastic sachets containing alleged shabu, drug paraphernalia, a caliber .38 revolver, bullets and the marked money.
