TWO MEN were found dead in separate areas in Quezon City on Saturday, their bodies stuffed in carton boxes and left with signs saying they were “pickpockets” who once prowled Edsa.
A report to the Quezon City Police District’s Masambong station said one of the still unidentified victims was found on the sidewalk near St. Augustine’s College in Barangay Philam around 1:30 a.m., while the other was discovered around the same time three kilometers away in a vacant lot in Barangay Ramon Magsaysay.
The first fatality was described to be between 20 and 25 years old, 5 feet tall and with a “BNG” tattoo on his right arm. The other was about 25 to 30 years old, had a “Gemina” tattoo on his back.
Both bodies bore signs that read: “’Wag ako tularan, mandurukot ako sa Edsa (Don’t emulate me; I was a pickpocket on Edsa).’’ They also bore strangulation marks, as well as leg and head injuries.
The corpses added to the number of apparent victims of summary executions that has spiked during the first few days of the Duterte administration. Maricar Brizuela and Ma. Niña Pamela Castro
