TODAY, July 11, is the 88th birth anniversary of National Artist for Music Andrea Veneracion. Born in Manila in 1928, she was a recognized authority on choral music and performance. Veneracion founded the Philippine Madrigal Singers and spearheaded the development of Philippine choral music. She was named National Artist in 1999. Veneracion died on July 9, 2013.
