Vice President Leni Robredo is looking forward to working with other members of President Rodrigo Duterte’s team as she is set to attend her first Cabinet meeting on Monday.
“VP Leni’s schedule for Monday has been cleared for her to be able to attend the Cabinet meeting,” Robredo’s spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said in a statement to the media.
“As it is her first meeting, her initial aim is to get up to speed with the policy and work priorities of the administration,” Hernandez said.
A day after Duterte asked Robredo to join his Cabinet, the Vice President met with Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) officials on Friday night.

“She was given a packet of documents to study and prepare for her first Cabinet meeting,” the spokesperson said.
Duterte offered the housing portfolio to Robredo last week over a phone call in the middle of a media interview at the Malacañang.
The President also invited her to join the Cabinet meeting so she would be briefed “on security matters” and she would be “kept abreast about what’s happening in the country.”

In earlier interviews, Duterte said he was not keen on giving Robredo a post in his Cabinet because it would hurt the feelings of defeated vice presidential candidate and his close friend, Bongbong Marcos. JE/rga
