Malacañang on Friday suspended government work in Metro Manila and classes in all public schools due to bad weather.
“Upon the recommendation of the National Risk Reduction and Manangement Council (NDRRMC), and in view of the continuing inclement weather brought by Typhoon “Butchoy,” work in government offices and classes in public schools at all levels in the National Capital Region, are hereby suspended effective 1:00 PM today 08 July 2016,” Memorandum Circular No. 2 signed by executive secretary Salvador Medialdea read.

Medialdea, however, said agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary service.”
He said the suspension of work for private companies, offices and schools is left to the discretion of their respective heads. CDG
