Amok Manila cop tested negative for drugs

THE Manila policeman who ran amuck on Sunday inside the headquarters of the Manila Police District (MPD) has tested negative for drugs.

Police Officer 1 (PO1) Vincent Paul Solares underwent drug test immediately after he was arrested by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.

MPD’s new director, Senior Superintendent Joel Coronel, said he has already called in the heads of various police precincts in his command to check on Solares’ work background and personality.

Coronel said Solares will also be made to undergo psychiatric examination.

On Monday, Solares was slapped with alarm and scandal, malicious mischief and grave threats cases filed before the Manila City Prosecutors Office.

Last Sunday, Solares ran amuck and threatened to shoot his fellow police officers inside the MPD headquarters on UN Avenue in Manila. He also fired two shots to avoid being arrested by responding SWAT team./ac/rga
