31 killed in northern Pakistan floods—mayor
PESHAWAR, Pakistan—Thirty-one people were killed in the northern Pakistani village of Ursoon when flash floods caused by monsoon rains swept away a mosque, houses and an army post, district mayor Maghfirat Shah said Sunday.
Separately, two Chinese engineers were killed and five Pakistani workers injured when the roof of a construction site collapsed at Tarbela Dam owing to the rains that began late Saturday, Latifur Rehman, spokesman for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said.
