“Surrender in 48 hours or die.”
Newly-appointed Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa issued this warning to police generals coddling drug lords on his first day in office.
“We will be relentless in our internal cleansing efforts, we have to eliminate the scalawags from within our ranks, kayong mga kotong, abusado, tamad at sinidakatong pulis, bilang na ang mga araw niyo (you, corrupt, abusive, lazy cops and those involved in syndicates, your days are numbered),” Dela Rosa said in his inaugural speech.
“Lalo na kayong mga pulis dito sa Metro Manila na pinagmamayabang pa ninyo na kayo ang mga ninja, na kayo ang taga recycle ng shabu (Especially Metro Manila cops who brag about recycling shabu), I am giving you 48 hours to voluntarily surrender to me at sabihin niyo sa akin lahat (to tell me everything). Otherwise, mag-AWOL na lang kayo at mag full-time drug lord na lang at makipag-gyera na lang kayo sa amin (just go AWOL and become full-time drug lords and fight us),” he added.

Sounding like President Rodrigo Duterte, Dela Rosa said he will stop unscrupulous police officials from “enjoying (their) evil life.”
He warned them: “I am telling you this, this has to stop right now. Or I’ll stop you from enjoying your life, I promise you change is coming including your birthday, which will be changed to November 2.”

Dela Rosa also made a vow to Duterte that he will not fail his commander in chief.
“Itotodo ko na ito (I will go full speed ahead) and I swear, I will not fail you Mr. President,” he said.
