Pangasinan village chief kills butcher

DAGUPAN CITY — A village chief of Rosales town in Pangasinan province allegedly shot dead a butcher in front of the victim’s horrified aunt on Thursday (June 30).

Allan Garcia, 35, died on the spot from gunshot wounds supposedly inflicted by San Pedro West village chief Crisanto Coloma at 6:30 p.m. for a still unknown reason.

Police investigator SPO4 Noe Sembran said Garcia and his aunt Marina Garcia were conversing at the terrace of Garcia’s house in Barangay San Pedro West when Coloma and a barangay tanod (watchman) arrived.

Coloma drew his gun and shot Garcia three times, hitting him in the different parts of his body, investigators said.

Garcia was taken to a hospital in the town but doctors there declared him dead on arrival.

Coloma was arrested minutes later in his house while his companion, barangay tanod Alex Idio, remains at large.

Sembran said Coloma will be presented for inquest Friday at the prosecutor’s office in the town./rga
