/ 12:53 AM June 28, 2016

DIGOS CITY—The dormitory at the Catholic-run Cor Jesu College (CJC) here, where President-elect Rodrigo Duterte lived as a high school student after being expelled from Ateneo de Davao, would soon be converted into a museum.

The dormitory that was Duterte’s second home until he graduated from the then Holy Cross Academy got a facelift in 2006 when he donated P100,000 for its conservation.

Nelson Tandug, external and alumni affairs officer of CJC, said the school planned to convert the dormitory into a museum and heritage site in which Duterte memorabilia would be displayed.

FEATURED STORIES

It was more than 50 years ago that Duterte attended Holy Cross Academy as a transferee. He was then in second year high school.

Duterte himself recounted how his father Vicente, then governor of the “undivided Davao,” sent him to Digos and placed him under the care of the  Llanos family.

He said his father hoped he would be disciplined at the exclusive school for boys, then run by Canadian priests.

CJC  said that among the things to be displayed at the Duterte museum are the 16th President’s original transcript of  records, as well as that of Jesus Dureza’s, his roommate and incoming presidential peace adviser.
