CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela—A trailer truck rammed 10 vehicles on Tuesday morning along the national road in Alibagu village here, injuring eight people.

The collision also destroyed a police sub-outpost.

Truck driver Jaime Geroy, 57, was pinned to the steering wheel and it took rescuers 20 minutes to extricate him.

Rescuers said the crash hurt Jackson Padilla of Cauayan City, Rolly Callejo of Roxas town, Jingchelle Asuncion and Norma Llapitan of Tumauini town, Anita Placido of Benito Soliven town, Corazon Rafa of Gamu and Cynthia Vinarao of this city’s Bliss Village.

They were brought to the hospital for treatment.

Police said the brakes of Geroy’s truck malfunctioned, sending it straight toward a dump truck, two cars, a van, two passenger jeepneys, two tricycles, and a motorcycle.

Edmundo Agbayani, who was driving at the time, said his tricycle fell on its side but his wife and two children were not hurt.

Rolly Callejo said his vehicle was dragged along when the truck plowed through traffic.

Callejo said he was on his way to the local mall to purchase medicine.

Police said Geroy would face a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property./rga
