Troops overrun Abu Sayyaf camps in Sulu
Army troops seized two Abu Sayyaf camps in Sulu on Monday, the military said.
Soldiers form the 45th Infantry Battalion overran the camps that could accommodate approximately 150 persons during their clearing operation in Barangay Sinumaan in Talipao town, a statement from Western Mindanao Command spokesperson Major Filemon Tan said on Tuesday.
Hammocks, water container, and other belongings believed to be owned by the Abu Sayyaf were found.
“Operating troops continue to scour and conduct blockades in the area,” Tan said.
The military is intensifying its focused military operations in Sulu to rescue the remaining hostages of the Abu Sayyaf.
The body of hostage Canadian Robert Hall, who was beheaded last June 13, has not been found as of Tuesday.
