Kris biggest contributor to Leni’s campaign: P31M
President Aquino’s youngest sister, actress-TV host Kris Aquino, was the biggest contributor to the successful vice presidential bid of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, documents submitted to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed.
Robredo’s statement of contributions and expenditures (Soce) included a list of contributors that showed Kris Aquino gave P30.8 million to her campaign.
Kris Aquino contributed four times, including three donations of P10 million each.
Biggest VP spender
Among the six vice presidential candidates, Robredo, the running mate of defeated Liberal Party (LP) presidential candidate Mar Roxas, had the biggest expenditure, amounting to over P418 million, entirely funded by contributors.

Article continues after this advertisementRobredo’s report showed that she received a total of P423,163,737.34, of which over P406 million was cash received from various sources; more than P192,000 in kind from various sources, and P16 million in kind from the LP.
Kris Aquino’s sister Viel Aquino-Dee also contributed P1 million to Robredo’s campaign.
Robredo also received P17 million in in-kind contributions, the bulk of which was the P16.8 million worth of advertisements listed under Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali Jr., LP treasurer.
Other contributors
Robredo’s list of contributors showed some 125 individuals whose donations amounted between P1 million and P5 million. Some of them had the same surnames.
More contributions were listed, ranging from about P10,000 to P500,000.
Listed in her Soce as contributors were Eduardo Borromeo Cu-Unjieng, Peter Garucho, Jose Baltazar Buenaventura, Wellington Lim, who gave P10 million each; Harvey Keh, who gave P5 million, and Lisa Gokongwei, P200,000.
