Alleged drug pusher killed in Laguna shootout
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna—A suspected illegal drug trader was shot and killed by policemen after he resisted arrest during a buy-bust operation in Sta. Rosa City in Laguna province on Wednesday, police said.
Supt. Reynaldo Maclang, Sta. Rosa police chief, said Ewin Bato drew his gun, prompting policemen to engage him in a firefight during the sting operation on Arcillas Boulevard in Barangay (village) Tagapo at 5:20 a.m.
Bato, who was hit in the head, died while being taken to a hospital in the city.
Maclang said Bato was included in the city police’s watch list of illegal drug suspects.
Recovered from the slain suspect was a .38 cal. pistol and a plastic bag containing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P25,000. RAM
