TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – Unidentified gunmen shot dead a businessman in front of his three-story pension house along J. Borja Street here past 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Supt. George Acol Vale, Tagbilaran police chief, said they had yet to determine the motive in the killing Eduardo Flores Enerio, 60.
He added they would check if nearby establishments had closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) which might have footage of the killing.
Vale said they were also looking into incidents involving the victim.
Enerio had several brushes with the law including an incident where he was hailed to court for allegedly killing Jack Lord Decasa on Nov. 15, 2009 at the residential apartment owned by Enerio along J. Borja Street, Tagbilaran.
But Enerio had claimed that he shot Decasa in self defense after he saw Decasa drawing a handgun while about to enter his bedroom on the second floor of Enerio’s apartment building.
In January 2010, Enerio was arrested for drug possession following a raid conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) based in Cebu City on the second floor of his building. He posted bail of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.
But Enerio retaliated and charged his relative Loay Mayor Rosemarie Lim-Imboy and several anti-narcotics agents with alleged robbery and direct bribery.
Enerio filed a complaint at the Office of the Ombudsman, accusing Imboy of conniving with PDEA agents to arrest him on “made-up drug charges” in exchange for bribe money. JE
