Duterte to fly to Cebu for thanksgiving party

DAVAO CITY — Incoming president Rodrigo Duterte will fly to Cebu on Wednesday to attend a thanksgiving party hosted by his supporters.

Duterte’s executive assistant Bong Go confirmed the incoming president’s attendance, saying that it was a private event.

No other details were given about the thanksgiving party.

This will be the first time that the Davao City mayor will leave his hometown after staying here for weeks since the May 9 elections.

The President-elect has a strong backing in Danao, the hometown of his father.

The One Cebu party led by the influential Garcia clan also backed Duterte’s presidency during the campaign period.

Duterte garnered about 1 million votes in the vote-rich province of Cebu. CDG
