Several LP members jump ship, join PDP-Laban
Several members of the Liberal Party (LP) have joined the growing Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
Among those who jumped ship from the LP to PDP-Laban on Thursday were Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali, Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres, Catanduanes Rep. Cesar Sarmiento, and Iloilo Rep. Jerry Treñas.
Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, Duterte’s anointed candidate for Speaker in the 17th Congress, was present when the LP members signed their membership with PDP-Laban.

Duterte and Alvarez are chairman and secretary-general of PDP-Laban, respectively.
Before this, the PDP-Laban signed a coalition agreement with the National Unity Party with 32 members in the House. CDG/rga
