CEBU CITY, Philippines—At least 56 policemen in Central Visayas are facing criminal charges in court.
Based on the report of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7), 27 police officers were charged with murder, seven were cited for physical injuries and six for arbitrary detention.
The others were charged with other offenses which included homicide, theft, robbery, maltreatment of personnel, graft and corruption and illegal drugs.
“But take note that these 27 policemen are less than one percent of the 8,700 policemen in the region who are not charged with any criminal offense,” said Chief Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, police director for Central Visayas. RAM
