4 drug suspects killed, 4 others nabbed in Bulacan

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—Bulacan police killed 4 alleged drug dealers and arrested four other suspects in a gunbattle in Norzagaray town Thursday night.

The police were serving a search warrant for Michael Sumbillo in his house in Barangay (village) Bigte when they were attacked which prompted them to retaliate, killing Sumbillo, Reyan Quirante, and two fatalities identified only as “Allan” and “Epoy,” said Supt. Rizalino Andaya, Norzagaray police chief.

The warrant was issued by Gapan City Regional Trial Court Judge Celso Baguio with the information that Sumbillo’s home was a drug den.

The police detained 19-year-old Mary Rose Nabo, Arrian Caballes, Rofel Sia and Josephine Venegas, who were in the vicinity during the encounter.

Forensic investigators recovered weapons such as improvised shotguns and handguns, and about 20 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated street value of P40,000.

The suspects face charges of attempted homicide for attacking the police as well as charges of possessing unlicensed weapons and illegal drugs. RAM/rga
