SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija—A man on the run after being convicted of drug trafficking was killed along with his companion in a firefight last Tuesday with the Nueva Ecija police in Rizal village here, a belated report said.

Oliver Bartolome, the convicted drug trafficker, died along with Warlito Panghilina when they fought policemen who had set up a dragnet at 7:30 p.m, said Senior Supt. Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police director.

Bartolome was the subject of an arrest warrant for failing to appear at the promulgation of his trial in a Gapan City regional trial court, where he was handed down a life sentence.

Investigators recovered from the area two .45 caliber pistols, a caliber .22 revolver and 10 plastic sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). RAM/rga
