SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan–A village councilman was shot dead on Thursday by gunmen on a motorcycle in Barangay Alagao here.

Dionisio Ignacio, 50, Barangay Akle councilman, was shot in the head as he drove a motorcycle with Mark Anthony Rangasa, 19.

Rangasa said he noticed the suspects tailing them before they were attacked.

Police investigators recovered three spent shells fired from a cal. .45 pistol. They also recovered an abandoned motorcycle a kilometer away from the crime scene but they would not say if it was the gunmen’s getaway vehicle.

Ignacio was an associate of outgoing Mayor Gerald Galvez, who lost the May 9 mayoral race to his first cousin, former Mayor Carla Galvez. CDG/rga
