AUTHORITIES arrested two women for possession of unlicensed guns and illegal drugs in separate police operations in Toledo and Danao cities, Cebu.
Cheric Hernandez Chavez, 56, was arrested when a big pack of suspected shabu was allegedly found in her house in barangay Poblacion, Toledo, during a raid conducted yesterday morning by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).
It was the third time that Chavez was arrested for drug charges, said PDEA-7. The woman denied owning the shabu and accused the PDEA-7 of planting the suspected drugs.
PDEA-7 agent Baby Rallos said they were tipped off that a supplier had just delivered 100 grams of shabu to Chavez before the raid was made.
In Danao City, Delia Enano, 56, was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas after she was allegedly caught carrying firearms.
SPO2 Willard Selibo, one of the arresting officers, said they went to barangay Cambiohan, Danao, after receiving a tip of an ongoing sale of firearms.
There, Selibo said they saw Enano on a trisikad carrying a paper bag. Police said Enano was apprehended when a barrel of a pistol peeked out of the paper bag.
Police said the paper bag contained a KG-9 automatic pistol and one .9mm pistol. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
