Shabu, weapons seized in Bilibid raid

Authorities from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Wednesday seized illegal drugs already packed and prepped for selling inside the Maximum Security Compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Seized from Building 2 Quadrant 3 occupied by Sputnik Gang were plastic sachets containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine).

NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf said the sachets were packed in ice plastic placed in black socks and hidden in a ceiling.

He said they also seized a black coin purse containing sachets also with suspected shabu.

Authorities also seized shotgun, paddle, sumpak (an improvised firearm) and several bladed weapons.

In Building 13 Quadrant 3 which is being occupied by over 1,000 inmates most of whom are members of Batang Cebu, authorities seized mobile phones, a refrigerator, an AVR and hens and chicks.

Schwarzkopf said this is the eighth time they raided the said buildings as part of Oplan Galugad, the program to rid the national penitentiary of contraband and stop illegal activities.
