Biggest shabu haul seized in Bilibid
Authorities on Thursday seized the largest haul of methamphetamine hydrochloride (“shabu”) inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) during the 21st “Oplan Galugad” operation.
“We recovered the shabu at the ceiling outside of the dormitory of Building 5, Quadrant 4. This is the largest haul of illegal drugs we have recovered here at the NBP though I don’t know the street value of the illegal drugs,” NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. said.
He said the dormitory was occupied by inmates belonging to the Sigue-Sigue-Sputnik gang.
Aside from the one kilo of shabu, also recovered were a 45 caliber pistol, a 9mm Glock pistol and a homemade 22 caliber pistol.
Schwarzkopf said he already ordered an investigation to determine how the illegal drugs and firearms were brought inside the NBP and identify those involved.

The four came under fire last December 2015 when several cellular phones of inmates were recovered in their drawers during a surprise inspection as part of the Oplan Galugad operation of the Bureau of Corrections.
The four were “dormitory keepers” at the Reception Diagnostic Unit, Security Response Unit and Buildings 1 and 2 of the NBP’s medium security compound. RAM
