COTABATO CITY — Unidentified men shot and killed a reelected municipal councilor in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, on Wednesday night.

Chief Inspector Reynato Mauricio Jr., Shariff Aguak police chief, identified the victim as Councilor Hadie Malaguial, a member of the Liberal Party who was reelected during Monday’s national and local elections.

Police investigators said the killers, armed with assault rifles, fired at Malaguial’s home.

Malaguial, who was sitting in front of his home, tried to run but he was hit in different parts of his body.

As the gunmen left, they fired M-203 grenades to prevent Malaguial’s relatives from pursuing them.  SFM
