Candidates for the mayoral post in Bocaue, Bulacan had to resort to a simple game of coin toss to break a tie after they received the same number of votes.
Jim Valerio and Joni Villanueva, daughter of Jesus is Lord founder Eddie Villanueva, received 16,694 votes each during the election on Monday.
Radyo Inquirer 990AM on Tuesday reported that both camps decided to break the tie through coin flipping, instead of the initially reported drawing of lots.
Villanueva was declared mayor after winning two out of three tries.
In the video, her team is seen cheering upon realizing that she had won.
The radio report said the first try at the coin toss resulted in a tie after the coin landed on its side, resting upright on its edge after hitting a camera cable. JE/rga
