Senator Antonio Trillanes has conceded defeat in the vice presidential race.
“As our countrymen await the final victor, I hereby concede defeat in the vice-presidential race,” Trillanes said in a statement on Tuesday.
“I humbly submit to the will of the people for they are sovereign in our democracy. May God bless our country,” he added.
The senator, whose term will end in 2019, was among six candidates who ran for vice president.
Partial and unofficial results of the Commission on Elections Transparency Server showed that Trillanes was trailing other candidates.
