Cayetano: Flood of anti-Duterte attacks coming
VICE PRESIDENTIAL candidate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on Thursday said tens of millions of pesos’ worth of advertisements against Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte would be aired on television network ABS-CBN starting today, three days before the national elections.
In a statement, Cayetano said a reliable source informed the Duterte camp about the airing of the commercial spots.
According to the insider, the deal was rejected by other TV networks, but ABS-CBN’s ethics committee “blindly approved” the offer.
“The mayor’s rivals are obviously afraid, and so they are resorting to these cheap stunts to try and bring his image down,” Cayetano said.
“They are so desperate that, aside from the full barrage of tri-media attacks against Mayor Duterte, they are now trying to push for millions in advertisements in major networks in the last few days of the campaign,” he said.
Cayetano said both the camps of the Liberal Party and presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe appear to have joined forces to attack Duterte, who remains No. 1 in the latest surveys.
