Pacquiao:  INC backing an ‘inspiration’

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Boxing icon and senatorial candidate Manny Pacquiao on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the Iglesia Ni Cristo for reportedly endorsing his candidacy and assuring him of a bloc vote from the Christian church.

“I am extending my heartfelt and never-ending gratitude to the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) led by Ka Eduardo Manalo for rallying behind my senatorial bid,” Pacquiao said in a statement e-mailed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

“Your continued support will serve not just as inspiration but, above all, as impetus for me to advocate transparency, honesty and excellence in public service,” he added.

Pacquiao said the INC endorsement “is an affirmation of your unwavering commitment to a Christian-inspired leadership in this country.”
