INC reminds flock to vote as one on May 9

MANILA — The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) issued a circular to its flock on Wednesday, reminding them to vote as one in the May 9 elections as an exercise of their faith.

In a circular read after worship services on Wednesday, INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo emphasized to INC members the importance of their bloc vote by citing biblical passages.

“This is based on the teachings in the Bible that were taught to us even before we were accepted as members of the Church of Christ. We have faith that it is God’s teaching that there shouldn’t be division among us, but that we should be one in thinking and one in judgement,” he said in the vernacular.

The INC executive minister cited I Corinthians 1:10 and Romans 15:6 when he said that the Church’s unity was done “in the name of Jesus Christ, for the glory of God and for the sake of the Church.”

He said the names of the candidates for national and local positions the INC members would be united in voting for on Mondaywould be given to the members through sample ballots that would be sent to them.

“We hope that the contents of this letter are clear and you will all fulfill the decision (pasya) and will continue to follow and be united out of love and faith in God, and for the sake of the Church that we love,” he said.  SFM
