Campaign leader shot dead in Maguindanao

UPI, Maguindanao – A campaign leader of re-electionist Gov. Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) was killed by still unidentified gunmen in a remote village here, the police said Wednesday.

Lorenzo Talma, former chair of Barangay Nangi, was riding a motorbike driven by a certain Odin on his way home at 8 p.m. Monday when gunmen, who were on another motorbike, fired at him, according to Inspector Jesill Cabusas, deputy town police chief of Upi.

He died there and then, Cabusas said.

Talma had just attended a politically rally of Hataman in Barangay Nuro, he said.

Cabusas said an investigation was still going on as to the identity and motive of the attackers.

It was learned that Talma was also a supporter of re-electionist town Mayor Ramon Piang.

Both Piang and Hataman, who belong to Liberal Party, have not issued any statement on the incident yet. CDG
