MANILA, Philippines—A performance audit on police officials nationwide has begun and will determine who will stay in their present positions and who will have to be replaced, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters at Camp Crame, Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said they have begun the nationwide audit on police officials’ performances, the results of which would play a big role in determining who stays on next year.
He estimated the assessment of police commanders’ performances to be conducted early next year, stating that the move was to ensure that they assigned the right policemen for the job.
Cruz revealed that among things to be considered in evaluating police commanders’ performances would be the rise or fall in crime statistics in the areas they are responsible for. “We will evaluate what these policemen did to fight crime in their respective assigned areas,” said Cruz in Filipino.
The performance audit system would ensure the right people were assigned to the right jobs and is part of PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome’s 10-point action plan, he added.
