Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is allegedly keeping more hidden wealth aside from the reported P211 million bank deposits that he did not declare in his statement of assets, liabilities and networth in 2014, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Wednesday.

“Sa 2014 pa lang ‘yan. Pero meron pa tayong vini-verify ulit at vina-validate at pagka na-validate natin ‘yan, lalabas tayo at lalabas ulit yan, higit na mas malaki d’yan,” Trillanes said in a phone patch interview with Senate reporters.

(That was only from 2014. We are still verifying and validating a report, and once it is validated, we will reveal it because it’s probably bigger (than the amount already reported).)

“Yung P211 million, ‘yan ‘yung sa 2014 pero maraming higit pa r’yan. ‘Yun lang kailangan kasing i-validiate ng mga auditors, ng mga accountants ‘yung mga figures,” he added.

(The P211 million was only from 2014. There’s more. But the auditors and accountants are still validating it.)

The senator earlier disclosed that Duterte, the frontrunner in the presidential surveys, allegedly had at least P211 million in an account at Bank of the Philippine Island branch on Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City jointly with daughter Sara.

On Duterte’s 69th birthday on March 28, 2014, eight cash deposits totaling P197 million were reportedly credited to the mayor’s bank account in the BPI Julia Vargas branch.

Asked why he is exposing this only now, Trillanes said: “E sana nga kung nakuha ko ito ng mas maaga, e ‘di nailabas ko to, ngayon lang ibinigay (If only I had gotten it earlier, then I would have exposed it earlier. But it was given to me only now),” he said.

“Apparently maraming nagmamahal sa ating bayan at maraming natatakot na magkaroon tayo ng isang psychopath as commander in chief (Apparently, many people who love the country are scared that we may have a psychopath commander in chief),” he said, apparently referring the leading presidential bet.

“Sinasabi ko na sa kanya e, don’t mess with me e…Nagpapanggap s’ya na mahirap, niloloko n’ya ang tao pero may daan-daang milyon s’ya sa banko na nakapangalan sa kanya ha. Hindi pa natin pinag-uuspaan kung saan n’ya pinagtatago ‘yung iba.”

(I already warned him not to mess with me. He’s pretending to be poor and fooling the people, and it turns out that he has millions stashed in banks. We are not even talking about his other hidden wealth.)

If his allegations were not true, the senator then dared Duterte to issue a waiver and allow the opening of his bank accounts.

“Kung fabricated e, di maggawa ka ng waiver na ‘sige tingnan mo kung may account ako d’yan, itong waiver sa specific bank na ‘yan.’ Napakadaling gawin noon, walang mawawala sa kanya,” said Trillanes, who is running for vice president.

(If he claims it is fabricated, then he should make a waiver that says, “go ahead and take a look at this bank account.” It will be easy for him to do and he stands nothing to lose.)

“Ako, I stand by my information. Ilang beses ko nang ginawa ko ito before. Hindi pa tayo napapahiya. Lahat ng prenesent sa mga investigation even before that, lumabas ang totoo.”

(I stand by my information. I have done this before. I have not failed. The truth eventually came out thanks to the evidence we presented in the investigation.)

It was also Trillanes, who initiated the corruption allegations against Duterte’s rival, Vice President Jejomar Binay.

The senator is supporting the presidential bid of Senator Grace Poe, who was trailing Duterte in the latest surveys. IDL
