The camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay remains undaunted by his six-point drop in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
In a statement on Monday, Binay’s spokesperson Atty. Rico Quicho said Binay is not swayed by the “tweaking” of the voters’ preference polls because his core supporters remain solid.
“The true survey will be on the day of the elections. No amount of tweaking of results will refute the strong core support for the Vice President,” Quicho said.
According to a face-to-face survey conducted April 18 to 20, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte remained the frontrunner with the support of 33 percent of 1,800 respondents, or up six percentage points from the previous survey conducted March 30 to April 2
Sen. Grace Poe steadied at 24 percent from 23 percent.
Binay’s nemesis, administration bet Mar Roxas, went up one percentage point to 19 percent.
Binay lost as much as six percentage points, from 20 percent to 14 percent
Faced with corruption allegations over allegedly overpriced deals in Makati City, Binay has been steadily declining in the SWS surveys since January 2016.
Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago shed one point to two percent.
The survey has a margin of error of plus minus two points.
Duterte led the survey even though it was conducted in the aftermath of his rape-slay joke about the 1989 prison murder of Australian lay minister Jacqueline Hamill in Davao City. JE
