Roxas vows to end contractualization, create more jobs

Within three months of his term as president, Mar Roxas said he plans to end labor contractualization.

During the last presidential debate in Pangasinan City, Roxas vowed to stop the “endo” or end-of-contract” practices of employers that are preventing Filipino workers from attaining security of tenure.

Roxas noted that the problem does not only lie on the practice of endo but the legal loopholes affecting the implementation of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) policies on contractualization.

But Roxas said stopping contractualization is not the challenge but creating quality jobs for millions of Filipinos.

“Madaling tapusin ito pero mas importante, kung pano lilikha ng dekalidad na trabaho, sa construction, call centers at iba pa,” he said.

(It will be easy to stop contractualization, but the more important issue is the creation of quality jobs in the construction industry, call centers and other industries.) IDL
