Duterte ‘ready to die’ over PH claims on South China Sea

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday said he was ready to die to assert the Philippines’ claims over the South China Sea if he wins the presidency in the upcoming elections.

Duterte said if the Philippines wins its case in the United Nation’s arbitration tribunal but China refuses to comply, he would go to China and talk to its government.

If China insists on its sovereignty over the disputed territory, Duterte said he would ask the Navy to bring him to the nearest Philippine-China boundary.

“This is ours and do what you want with me to do,” he said, adding that he would go there and bring with him the Philippine flag. RC
