Grace seeks Serge’s guidance to sharpen her messaging skill

SENATOR Sergio Osmeña III on Saturday said Senator Grace Poe had sought his advice on what methods to use to communicate effectively to voters with less than three weeks before Election Day.

Osmeña said Poe texted him through a common friend if they could talk.

“I said, ‘okay’. We had dinner and [she asked me], if there’s any way to sharpen her messaging, so I gave her some tips,” he told reporters in a forum in Quezon City.

Asked if Poe would be his presidential choice, Osmeña did not answer and instead said: “A very sensitive matter…pamilya ko yan. My son just got married and so… I try to avoid…” the senator said.

Osmeña’s son, Jose Lorenzo “Joey,” recently married the niece of presidential candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.

Asked if he considers himself as Poe’s adviser, Osmeña said: “There are many types of advisers, you know,” he said, adding that rivals Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. also called him for advice.

Osmeña had advised Poe to run for President as an independent candidate and also told her to ditch Escudero.

In recent voter popularity surveys, Poe found herself trailing behind her top rival, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. With a report from Gwen Stephanie Bumanglag, INQUIRER.net Trainee
