Body of missing military man recovered in Davao del Norte

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—After almost a week of search and rescue operations, the body of a senior military officer who has gone missing after a dive in Davao del Norte was recovered on Friday afternoon.

Maj. Ezra Balagtey, public information officer of the military’s Eastern Mindanao Command, said the body of Maj. Hector Dongail was retrieved by technical divers in the Island Garden City of Samal.

The military earlier said Dongail was participating in a proficiency dive at the Angel’s Cove in Talikod Island, a known tourist destination, last Saturday.

The water between Davao City and Samal is known to have strong currents. RAM
