Paco Park in Manila used to be a municipal cemetery built by the Dominicans.
In 1807, an order for the construction of a cemetery in Bagumbayan was issued due to the outbreak of a cholera epidemic in Manila.
In April 22, 1822, the cemetery in Paco was officially inaugurated.
The remains of Dr. Jose P. Rizal were interred here after his execution on Dec. 30, 1896, before being transferred to the base of his monument in Rizal Park.
