75-year-old pensioner bags P22-M lotto jackpot

THE CHILDREN of a retired private sector employee can now put up businesses of their own after he won the more than P22-million jackpot prize in the 6/42 Lotto draw on April 7.

When the 75-year-old father claimed his winnings recently, he told Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) vice chair and general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II that he would donate part of his winnings to a local church and put aside another portion for his and his wife’s future needs.

The rest would be divided among his five kids to allow them to start their own businesses, said the winner who lives on a pension.

The lucky bettor, a private sector worker until his retirement, became the country’s newest multimillionaire after he picked the winning number combination of 23-15-04-07-06-36 to bag the jackpot prize of P22,612,748.

Rojas said the man had been placing lotto bets for the last five years before he bagged the grand prize.

He paid P120 for the winning ticket, using the lucky pick feature to guess the correct number combination, Rojas added.
