Traffic enforcer shot dead in Cebu City

CEBU CITY—A traffic enforcer here was shot dead by an unidentified assailant a few meters from his house on Urgello Street in Barangay (village) Sambag 2, Cebu City, Cebu past 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Michael Garces, 40, was shot in the right armpit and the bullet went through the left side of his body, hitting his heart, said PO3 Alberto Diamante, Cebu City homicide investigator.

Garces was rushed to Sacred Heart Hospital on Urgello Street but was declared dead on arrival by physicians.

Diamante said police had yet to determine if the killing was related to the job of Garces as a traffic enforcer.

He said investigators had received reports that the victim was not in good terms with his uncle following a dispute over some pieces of property.

Residents claimed that his uncle was seen in the afternoon around the area, said Diamante. RAM
