Trillanes to bat for DILG post if elected VP

Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV on Tuesday reiterated his earlier pronouncement that he would want to head the Department of Interior and Local Government if he wins as vice president in the coming elections.

He said his primary focus would be to address the problem of illegal drugs and to modernize the Philippine National Police.

Trillanes, during INQUIRER.net’s first INQ & A on Facebook, said that he wants to have an “efficient crime fighting force.” To have this, he will have to weed out the corrupt in the police force.

As for local governance, he will be focusing on good governance and ensuring that the alleged anomalies in Makati City would not happen.

Trillanes, who is among the critics of Vice President Jejomar Binay, said he wants to highlight the best practices of different local government units. JE
