Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has caught up with Senator Grace Poe to share the top spot in the latest Pulse Asia poll.
The survey, which was commissioned by ABS-CBN, showed that a total of 26 percent of the 4,000 respondents picked Poe as their choice for president; 25 percent chose Duterte.
With the survey having a ± 1.5 percent error margin at 95 percent confidence level, Duterte and Poe are “statistically tied” for first place.

Not far behind them is Vice President Jejomar Binay who got 22 percent. Administration presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas II got 20 percent while Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago got 3 percent.
The survey was conducted from March 8 to 13. It was also the first poll conducted after the Supreme Court cleared the way for Poe to pursue her presidential bid.
Five percent of respondents did not pick any presidential candidate.
In terms of geographic area, Poe led in the National Capital Region (30 percent) and the rest of Luzon (34 percent). Roxas is still the top choice of respondents in the Visayas (36 percent) while Duterte dominated in Mindanao (46 percent).
Duterte remains the top choice of respondents from Class ABC while Poe is the leading choice of those belonging in Class D and E.
Poe also top pick as second choice bet
The same poll also asked respondents who would be their second choice should their first choice back out from the race.
Poe is the top second choice among respondents, followed by Binay (19 percent) and Roxas (14 percent). Should Duterte drop from the presidential race, Poe will likely get 33 percent of the feisty mayor’s voters. Voters whose first choice is Binay, Roxas or Santiago will also shift to Poe should the first choice failed to pursue their bid for the presidency.
Should Poe quit the race, her voters would likely choose Binay (27 percent) or Roxas (25 percent).
